A Story Told From A
Mother’s Heart
When I was a little girl, I didn’t have a voice. Back then, kids were to be seen and not heard, and this was especially because I was a girl. After I endured so much trauma I finally said enough was enough and made it my mission to always have a voice, and I did this by standing up for myself, my younger brother, and others in need of being stood up for. I became a strong advocate for myself, and others, and never tolerated mean people. I never anticipated on birthing a child without a voice, and I believe because of my strength God sent my son Bently to me. Bently has endured difficult times when I haven’t been around, such as, at school. It’s my job as his mom to keep him safe and advocate for him. As my family and I shared good memories of Bently and it was the main idea of the book, I also knew that people should know his struggles and what he goes through as a child on the spectrum without a voice. Amid writing this book I was also fighting a city school district for my sons right to a safe and friendly environment and I wholeheartedly believe the book I wrote “My Memories Live Without a Voice”, would spread advocacy, awareness, love, and joy to those who read it. I believe we need more awareness of autism and that the world needs to change for kids like my son Bently. There are far more struggles Bently and I (his mom) endure than what is written in the book, and it is my mission to spread as much awareness as possible, and I plan to write more. I hope after reading, people gain more insight and understanding of autism and will be more accepting, kind, and patient when seeing others like my son. I can only wish for a better future for my son and I, and others alike. I want to thank everyone who’s read my book and wholeheartedly hope you’ve enjoyed it and will take a piece of Bently with you all in your hearts.
